Audreen Hourie Indigenous Governance Graduate Fellowship

The Audreen Hourie Indigenous Governance Graduate Fellowship will be awarded annually for University of Winnipeg Métis students pursuing a Master's Degree in Indigenous Governance or Master's in Development Practice.

The funds for this award were established by an endowment from the Manitoba Métis Federation that was matched by the University of Winnipeg.

The Audreen Hourie Indigenous Governance Graduate Fellowship is valued at $5,000 (est.).

Eligibility

This fellowship was established by the Manitoba Metis Federation. Fellowships will be awarded annually for students pursuing a degree in the Masters of Indigenous Studies or the Masters of Development Practice. The Louis Riel Institute confirms if applicants are eligible (by verifying Métis ancestry or MMF membership) and the university chooses the recipients. Students are eligible to apply for this award every year they are at the university, but are only eligible to receive it once per academic year. Preference is given to full-time students.

Application Procedures

For students to be considered for this award, they apply for the Louis Riel Bursary as well as one of our Fall in-course bursaries.

For consideration, University of Winnipeg students are required to submit two applications:

  • UW online award application - complete and submit the General Application and indicate you are Métis. The application opens in August.
  • LRI PDF application - the Louis Riel Institute confirms if applicants are eligible by verifying Métis ancestry or MMF membership through their application form.
