Axworthy Health & RecPlex
The Axworthy Health and RecPlex is a state of the art multi-purpose recreational facility. Named for former President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, the University of Winnipeg's indoor field house accommodates a multitude of sports, community programming, intramurals and is fit for sporting events and large gatherings such as festivals and indoor markets. Wheelchair accessible elevators & washrooms and braille signage are found throughout the facility.
The Axworthy Health and RecPlex features the following:
Main Floor:
- A large multi-use artificial turf field (which can also be used as three cross-fields):
- Accommodates a multitude of sports including soccer, flag football, ultimate, track & field.
- Full Field: 50.5 m x 90 m
- 1/3 Field: 29.2 m x 47.5 m
- A four lane 60m rubberized sprint track and sand pit.
- Retractable practice batting cages (for softball or baseball).
- Team changing rooms and team/group lockers.
Second Floor:
- The Community Gym:
- 1 small size basketball court, volleyball court or badminton court.
- 5 basketball hoops.
- Also suitable for lectures, presentations or meetings.
- The Thomas Sill Multi-Purpose Room features a space for:
- Fitness classes.
- Drumming Circles or smudging ceremonies (soundproofed and ventilated specifically to accommodate drumming and pow wow groups).
- Lectures, presentations and meetings.
- The Drew Olson Student Lounge which is a space for students and spectators to view field level activities.
- Serving popcorn, snack and beverages, is open for select events in the Duckworth Centre and the Axworthy Health and RecPlex.
- Connected to the Duckworth Centre.

- RecPlex Parkade (access from Portage Avenue down Young Street).
