Education Student Wins $5,000 Tuition Credit
The winner of Â鶹´«Ã½’s Student Recruitment tuition credit draw for 2024 is Hailey Lobb. Congratulations, Hailey!
Hailey is a Faculty of Education student, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Physics. She will be entering UWinnipeg’s Integrated Education program, a five-year program that makes it possible for students to work towards two degrees concurrently. Hailey will complete a BEd (Bachelor of Education) and a BSc (Bachelor of Science) and aspires to teach high school mathematics. She describes the Integrated Education program’s excellent reputation as a factor in choosing to apply to the University of Winnipeg.
“If you’re going into education this is the best program to do it,” said Hailey. “You start getting hands-on experience right away.”
Hailey graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate, where she developed her passion for Mathematics.
“It grew on me. I had some inspiring teachers who made it easy to learn.”
She entered the annual tuition credit draw by filling out a contact card when a UWinnipeg recruiter visited her high school. After being admitted to UWinnipeg, Hailey was very happy to learn that her name had been randomly drawn to receive the $5000 tuition credit.
“I was really shocked. To get the email that I had received [the credit] was incredible”,” she said.
The first-year student is looking forward to attending Fall Orientation, getting a head start on her studies, and exploring the team sports offered at UWinnipeg.
“Maybe I’ll try out for the Wesmen. I like to think I’m a good setter!”
All prospective UWinnipeg students are eligible for the annual tuition credit draw. Students entering UWinnipeg in Fall 2025 can enter next year’s draw by filling out a contact card at a UWinnipeg presentation or event or by registering for a virtual information session.
Visit to attend a presentation virtually, or speak with your school counsellor about when a UWinnipeg rep will be visiting your high school.
And don’t forget to join us to fill out a ballot in person at Future Student Night on Tuesday, November 26, at 6 p.m. in the Duckworth Centre!
