About:

Dr. Zbigniew Izydorczyk studied English at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, and Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. He has taught and conducted research at Â鶹´«Ã½ since 1986.

Trained as a historian of the English language and literature, Izydorczyk has broadened his interests to medieval Latin. In particular, he is interested in the transmission and cultural impact of New Testament apocrypha in late antiquity and the Middle Ages.

He is a member of the Acta Pilate Research Team and is responsible for editing the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus (Evangelium Nicodemi). Izydorczyk has lectured on this apocryphon at several schools in Europe, including École Pratique des Hautes Études (Section des Science religieuses), Paris; École Normale Superior, Paris; and Faculté de théologie protestants, University of Strasbourg.

He has published a catalogue of medieval manuscripts, two editions of minor versions of the Gospel of Nicodemus, and a number of studies of its Latin and vernacular adaptations in the Middle Ages. He is also active as a translator from Polish, specializing in books on Polish immigration to Canada.
